What happens after the 360 feedback?

From awareness to real and lasting change

Mon Nov 9 • 9AM PST • 90 minutes

A client may know what needs to change.

But as coaches, we know that seeing what needs to change and actually changing it can remain worlds apart.

So what happens next?

How do we help a leader move beyond awareness to
real and lasting change?

The Developmental Pathway +
Immunity to Change

For seven years, a growing community of coaches has been exploring this question through our work with clients.

Our practice draws on the developmental pathway described by Harvard's Bob Kegan and Lisa Lahey in their book Immunity to Change.

For those familiar with the Leadership Circle Profile, the connection is especially relevant. Adult Development Theory helps us understand the movement from the Reactive Tendencies toward more Creative Competencies.

Over these seven years, through intentionally and repeatedly following this developmental pathway with our clients, we've come to recognize practices that seem to matter most to our clients’ progress.

We'd like to share what we've been learning.

A CEO’s Developmental Journey

We'll ground our gathering in the experience of “John”, a CEO whose Leadership Circle 360 revealed patterns that had contributed significantly to his success—and were now getting in the way of the leader he needed to become to take his organization to the next level.

Through video, you'll meet John and follow key moments in his developmental journey.

Along the way, we'll explore three milestones in the Developmental Pathway and some of the most useful practices we've come to recognize at each:

  1. Bridging — How do we begin?

From the LCP360 into the Developmental Pathway

How do we help a leader move from understanding their 360 feedback to beginning the deeper developmental work?

  2. Mapping — What is keeping the pattern in place?

    Understanding the Psychological Immune System

How do we help a leader uncover the underlying beliefs and assumptions that keep the reactive patterns in place?

  3. Testing — How does real change begin?

Beginning to Overturn the Immunity to Change

How do we help a leader test those beliefs and assumptions and begin experimenting with a different way of leading?

Through John’s experience, we'll explore what these milestones look like in practice, including the questions, exercises, and discoveries that have proven particularly useful along the way.

An Invitation from Our Community of Practice

Our MINDSHIFT Community of Practice has continued gathering to exchange experiences, explore questions, and deepen our understanding of vertical development.

For this gathering, we're opening our doors and inviting fellow coaches—particularly colleagues familiar with the Leadership Circle—to join us. No previous experience in Immunity to Change necessary.

Sri Seshadri is the host and co-presenter for this session. Alex Wray will guide us through the CEO's story. We'll also make room for participants to share their own experiences and perspectives along the way.

We'd be delighted to have you join us.

Relevant History: Bob Kegan, Immunity to Change and LCP360

The science behind the Immunity to Change methodology has been applied inside the leadership-development ecosystem of some of the world’s most recognized corporations.

In 2018, Bob Kegan gave a keynote presentation at the first Leadership Circle Global Summit.  Bob spoke on the developmental pathway he describes in his book, Immunity to Change.

At the 2019 Global Summit, Alex Wray was invited to present a coach’s perspective on the developmental pathway he and other coaches were guiding their clients through.

After the 2019 summit a group of LCP360 Practitioners organized the first MINDSHIFT learning cohort to experience the developmental pathway for themselves.
